17 Labourers Feared Dead in Arunachal Border Accident

At least 17 labourers are feared dead after a truck carrying 21 workers plunged into a deep gorge near the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. The tragic accident occurred on December 8 along the Hayuliang–Chaglagam road in the state’s Anjaw district.

The incident came to light three days later when one injured survivor managed to reach the headquarters town and alerted authorities about the fatal accident.

Accident Details and Location

The truck was traveling on the Chaglagam border road, located approximately 45 kilometers from the international boundary at an altitude of over 10,000 feet. According to Anjaw Deputy Commissioner Millo Kojin, the vehicle fell into a gorge in the remote border region.

The accident took place on Monday, but remained undiscovered until Thursday when the survivor raised the alarm.

Rescue and Relief Operations Underway

One victim suffering severe head injuries and facial bone fractures is currently being evacuated and transported to Assam for advanced medical treatment.

An NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) team has been mobilized from Dibrugarh, Assam, to conduct search and rescue operations at the accident site.

Authorities are coordinating with Assam Police to complete the required codal formalities for the 21 victims involved in the Arunachal Pradesh truck accident.
