A case of mistaken identity has left Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Dr Humayun Kabir dealing with an unexpected flood of phone calls after his namesake launched a controversial mosque construction project in West Bengal.
Dr Humayun Kabir, representing Debra constituency in Paschim Medinipur, has been receiving non-stop calls since Sunday from donors across India wanting to contribute to a Babri Masjid-style mosque. However, he has nothing to do with the project.
The confusion stems from TMC having two MLAs with identical names. It was Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir who initiated the mosque construction project in Murshidabad’s Beldanga and has since been suspended by the party.
